Musicians such as YUNGBLUD, Harry Styles and Shaun Mendes and even the newest T.V. personalities including Harry Clark winner of this year’s ‘The Traitors’ series, have all been seen wearing pearls in the last couple of years. Fashion designers are featuring them in their collections and men are becoming more comfortable expressing themselves, influenced by social media platforms.

Pearls were once symbols of wealth, and are still seen as sophisticated and versatile. From the earliest times, powerful men such as Roman Emperors, Indian Maharajahs and Chinese royalty all chose to wear pearls to display their wealth and nobility and by the Renaissance, pearls were added to clothing and accessories such as hats and collars and in hair to display wealth. Queen Elizabeth I was known to have worn seven ropes of pearls that extended to her knees. Single pearl earrings became popular with Eastern European courtiers and gentlemen such as Walter Raleigh and King Charles I, but the fashion has now returned.
Keep an eye out for celebs wearing multi-sized pearl necklaces and bracelets, different colours, layers and even combining them with metal chains, leather cords, crosses and pendants such as keys and padlocks. The trend is set to continue as wearing jewellery has now opened to ‘genderless style’.
