Here’s a reminder about the fabulous Whitby Goth Weekend which starts today. It features over 100 indoor stalls at the ‘Bizarre Bazaar Alternative Market’ based at the Whitby Leisure Centre. The festival itself celebrates all things goth – fashion, music and culture, and the town is filled with a wonderful array of exotic gothic and steampunk costumes.

Whitby itself was chosen as the centre for the iconic festival due to its connection with Bram Stoker, who mentions several locations in his famous book ‘Dracula’ including the abbey and 199 steps leading to St Mary’s graveyard.
